The brief for this project was to create a product that saved water in the garden. The design works by collecting rain water which it stores for later use.

 

Up to 50% of water used from hose pipes or watering cans is lost to evaporation, by storing the water underground and delivering it straight to the root none is lost. The design can water a 3m square area with 5l compared to the 40l it takes using a hose pipe.

 

Extra care was taken with the aesthetics of the design to make sure the product blended in with its environment. To achieve the desired look a range of different models were created from foam. These models were tested and developed with users until the perfect one was found.
